Lockhart is a similar distance from Austin and is also a smaller town. Historic homes blend with recently built subdivisions to give this city a mixed feel; a combination of small-town atmosphere and continued growth. A couple of apartment buildings have recently gone up in the area, providing ample space and new living quarters for renters. Lockhart State Park provides an area for some great outdoor fun, and there is plenty to do in town, such as antiquing or kicking back to sample some good Texas barbecue.
